In this bullet hell game, you play as a varmint - a self-replicating skeletal lich, trying to outsmart the farmers. Your one weakness? Water. And your ever-growing numbers that make you a threat to yourself.

Controls:

WASD to move

Left Click to fire

Right Click to teleport (gives some invulnerability)

Q/E to cycle between which Varmint your camera focuses on

Escape to pause/access options menu

Recommended to play fullscreen with at least 1920x1080 resolution, unsure what'll happen to the UI otherwise.

Originally made for the three day ZenoJam 4 with the theme "I am everywhere."

New Update (1/3/22):

-New "Game Speed" slider - slow the game down to 50% speed or up to 150% speed, find the difficulty that feels right to you!

-Visual overhaul - bug prompted me to make my own tileset, so I did. Also shaders and outlines, everywhere. I think the game is much cleaner and clearer now. Enemies no longer juggle their weapons around wildly.

-Added a bunch of polish all around, new sounds, especially in the UI.

-Added the Forker, an enemy that tries to hunt you down with a unique fire pattern.

-Can now also use Backspace to pause, which should avoid the problem of Escape jumping you out of the window.

-Implemented object pooling, which smooths out any possible performance hitches. Possibly some bugs introduced here, would love to know if anyone encounters anything!

-A bunch of stat value tweaking, and the most "major" gameplay update here - running into an enemy now kills the enemy and guarantees a skeleton spawn. This introduces a totally different way to approach the game.

Future versions to come!

Almost all the pixelart was done by me, most done during the jam. Otherwise I used some props from the ever-popular Zelda-like tileset by ArMM1998, this witch by Elthen, an image from SeraphCircle's SC Monster Pack 1 for my title screen, and a font (Compass) from somepx.  Menu theme is an old song of mine. Additionally the in-game musicand sound effects come from a couple unity asset packs, though much of the latter has been altered/layered/etc. by me.

If you'd like to see the game in its Game Jam version, you can follow  this link - it's for all intents and purposes identical to my game jam entry, but can be played online.
