Honeybutter
Life's tough for a magic pot of honey. What's he supposed to do when he's run out of sugar?
Help him find what he needs!
My second ever game, created for the Juice Jam, with the theme "don't stop." If you stop timing your jumps properly, you'll soon find yourself stuck and unable to move. So bounce, bounce, bounce with all your might and you'll get to zip around.
Standard platformer controls, R on keyboard or Select on gamepad to quick restart. Backspace or Esc will pause and give you access to the options screen, which includes a couple options to make the game easier/more accessible if you'd like. Turning on automatic jumping in this way eliminates the main element of challenge in the game, so please consider not turning it on until you've given the game a shot on its own :)
Had some weird issues with UI so sadly the main menu I created had to be dropped :(
Asset Credits
the main character art is an ephemerald original made during the jam
Ansimuzwas my source for most of the rest of the art - primarily used Sunnyland and Sunnyland Forest, recolored to match palettes.
Font was hope gold from somepx
The (imo amazing) music is from Sidearm Studios, used some side effects from them as well as Imphezia, did some amount of editing on most of those.

my computer won't let me open the file, because it doesn't recognise the app. It would be great if you could make a web version so that I can play it
Appreciate the interest, I wish I could get the web version working, but this is what's happening with it - working on it though! The download should be perfectly safe though, just a standard Unity game. I realized the zip accidentally contained a version of the web build with it, which I wouldn't think would matter that much, but I've re-uploaded it without that. Maybe it'll be less offensive to any anti-virus protections that way. :)
Web version's now working if you're stil linterested!
thanks, I just gave it a go. I like the music and its very polished, but I could just spam the jump button to bounce forever
I originally had some anti-spam mechanics included, but I felt they just made the game less approachable for a gamejam setting. If I were to develop this further I think I would include something like that. There were some harder jumping challenges I had planned but didn't really get to implement, though as a theoretical first level of a game it's probably okay for it to be on the easy side!
